They came from Belgium, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Indonesia, Alaska and the continental United States to honor the Greatest Catastrophist of the 20th Century. The grand ballroom was filled with them and their eager talk and exchanges of information. The man that establishment science tried to silence with misrepresentations and villification was indeed alive in the minds of those who met, and the great work that he had begun was still proceeding. Scholars and scientists from such diverse fields as mythology, planetology, historical chronology, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, physics and astrophysics all came to deliver papers that spoke eloquently to the fact that Velikovskian research was alive and well and growing. Astronomer, Gordon Atwater, the first Velikovskian martyr to establishment science's insane repressive behavior, at 91, feeble but proud and erect, came to address the filled-to-capacity, Saturday-night dinner gathering with words of courage and hope and love for what Velikovsky had discovered and written. Velikovsky's daughter, Dr. Ruth Velikovsky Sharon with her family also came to honor and be honored for experiencing [as had her sister, Shulamit Velikovsky Kogan, living in Israel] that the many years of struggle that her father had endured at the hands of this enemies were not forgotten nor spent in vain. This proudly presented volume, /The Proceedings of the Velikovsky Centennial 1895-1995, / is dedicated to the monumental life and work of Immanuel Velikovsky by his loving and devoted students for whom he opened up a new unrecognized world of science. * Contributors* *Irving Wolfe* (Ph.D., University of Bristol, England); Professor of English, Departments détudes anglaises, Université de Montréal.
