Another general principle established in the physical universe that can be
extrapolated to existence in general is the principle that existence is
logical, orderly, and rational. This concept, which from the very
beginnings of science has been held by scientists "with the fervor of a
religious conviction,"66 as Margenau puts it, is the essence of what we
have called the "implied third postulate" of the Reciprocal System. It has
been definitely confirmed, so far as the physical universe is concerned,
by the verification of that new system of theory, and the strong intuitive
conviction of the individual scientists has been vindicated (a point which
will have some significance in connection with a subject to be discussed
later). By extension, in accordance with the general rule that has been
stated, we are now able to say that the metaphysical existences are
likewise logical, orderly, and rational.
