October 05, 2007 12:00am *The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?* If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it. *LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS* uses logic detail oriented facts rule words and language present and past math and science can comprehend knowing acknowledges order/pattern perception knows object name reality based forms strategies practical safe *RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS* uses feeling "big picture" oriented imagination rules symbols and images present and future philosophy & religion can "get it" (i.e. meaning) believes appreciates spatial perception knows object function fantasy based presents possibilities impetuous risk taking Latest Comments: If you only see her going clockwise, look at her legs and say to yourself back , front, back , front when you are actually seeing front ,back ,front ,back and slowly and every now and then she will look like she is changing direction. Eventually you can make her turn any direction you want. Posted by: *Chris of Perth* 6:35pm November 15, 2007 I can only see it clockwise! No matter how hard I try, I can't see it any other way. Posted by: *Annie of Brisbane* 3:56pm November 15, 2007 At first i saw her only clockwise. I was focusing as hard as i could, refreshing the window and restarting the browser. The next day it was still clockwise !!! So i obviously thought everybody who told me they saw it anticlockwise were liars and that it was definitely impossible to switch and see both. Well i was wrong. I can now chose to see it clockwise or anticlockwise. It's truly amazing. For me it's really helpful to look at the shadow only. Put your hand on the dancer and just look at her shadow... You will see her foot on the right and on the left for a brief moment only. Now chose if you want anticlockwise or clockwise. Now imagine her move. Now take your hand away and i bet she'll be doing it in that direction :) It's not a scam !! I first thought it was for days, but this works !! Posted by: *T of Brussels* 4:35am November 15, 2007 All of you fail. When an object is spinning, the direction of rotation is a matter of perspective. Any object spinning in a clockwise fashion will appear spinning anti-clockwise when viewed in the opposite direction. The real question that the fails to assert is why left brainers or right brainers tend to view the spinning silhouette from the top or from the bottom. The page makes the assumption that left-brainers will most likely view the smaller parts and therefore make it seem that the perspective is bottom-up, while right-brainers will most likely view the figure in its entirety and therefore more likely to have a top-down perspective. As long as you can imagine a change in perspective, you can see the image in both clockwise and anticlockwise. At least we can agree that in the foreground the silhouette is moving towards the left, while in the background the silhouette is moving to the right. That should be the most tenable position available. Posted by: *Jian of * 3:27am November 15, 2007 This test is nonsense: the picture changes by itself if you watch long enough. The dancer can be turning in either direction depending when you look. There is no optical illusion. Posted by: *Justin of * 6:40pm November 13, 2007 It all depends if your a Boob guy or a leg guy. She goes in one direction when you look at her boobs and in another direction when you look at her legs. I got her spinning both ways. ;) Posted by: *Ray Andersen of USA* 5:35pm November 11, 2007 This is amazing. At first I saw her going only clockwise and then I concentrated to make her go the other way and slowly I could get her to do it and then it was happening more often. Now I am able to not have her go around at all, but turn to the left then back to the right and so on. Once in awhile though she will take a turn on me clockwise and I have to concentrate to keep her going back and forth, instead of around. Has anyone else experienced this? I would be very curious to know. I'd love to hear from those who have experienced this. The rest of you... just sway with her and then sway back and forth with her and she will only go back and forth instead of around. It is truly amazing.
