Bauval 2002 _Astronomical Drawings in Coffins during the Roman Period._ We have shown in Part 4 the evolution of the original sky image or 'common prototype' from prehistoric times in Egypt all the way to Roman Period. We have seen how on the Denderah Circular Zodiac the artist fully *INTEGRATED* the traditional and older Egyptian sky figures with the newly imported Zodiac of the Greeks and seems to have replaced the figure of the New Kingdom Lion with that of the Greek 'Leo'. We have also shown how in the early Roman Period, the artist of the coffin of Heter now *SEGREGATED* the older/traditional Egyptian sky figures from the imported Zodiac figures by drawing a dividing line between the two sets of figures. Here, in Part 5, we show two coffins, one belonging to Soter and the other to Petamenophis, who were Roman citizens who lived and died in Egypt during the 2nd century AD. We can see that the artists of these coffins now completed *DISCARDED* the older/traditional Egyptian sky figures, and has only shown the 12 signs of the Zodiac. The interior of the lid of the Coffin of Soter. British Museum This 2nd century AD Roman Period coffin belongs to a man who had Roman and Greek names. The lid of the coffin, which the face of the dead person would look at, represents the sky depicted as the sky-goddess Nut shown here in Graeco-Egyptian style surrounded by the 12 signs/figures of the Zodiac. Interior of the Coffin of Petamenophis lid, 2nd Century AD. Louvre Museum. A minor point: the two bovine creatures that are looking backwards on each of these Roman Period coffins are very reminiscent of the small bovine creature shown sitting on the Bull's Thigh in the Denderah Circular Zodiac.
