No doubt you have heard of some, or seen them speak at conferences around the world./ I've compiled a short biographical directory of some of the leading researchers and list them alphabetically below. If you feel that any researcher is missing from this list, please contact me and I will endeavour to contact the person concerned and add an entry for them. Alternatively, if you *are* a researcher and feel that your research has contributed to the further understanding of the crop circle phenomenon please also contact me. (A black and white photo and no more than 250 words of biographical/research details should accompany any potential submissions.) photo of Colin Andrews Colin Andrews Colin is an ex electrical engineer and possibly the world's leading authority on the crop circle subject, having first witnessed a crop circle in 1983. He was immediately struck by the simple elegance, yet complexity of construction and design and thus began a path which has led him to co-author (with Pat Delgado) the best selling book, "Circular Evidence" and appear on innumerable television and radio programmes around the world. From 1989 to 1991, Colins provided scientific reports on crop circles to the Hon.Nicholas Ridley, Undersecretary of State for the Environment in the British Government. These reports were forwarded to the Chief Scientific Advisor to Prime Ministor Margaret Thatcher and the subject was raised in Parliament (House of Commons) in July 1989. In 1990 Colin planned and coordinated the most in-depth crop circle surveillance operation ever attempted; "Operation Blackbird", which spanned 10 days and drew the attention of the world's media. The full results of this operation, which utilised more than a million pounds worth of high-tech equipment (supplied by the BBC, Nipon TV and the British army), have never officially been made public, but Colin hopes to rectify this. Today, Colin continues to document and research the phenomenon and works with leading scientists, government officials, spiritual leaders and indigenous leaders from around the world. Colin theorizes that the patterns are helping to shift human consciousness and knowledge at an ecologically sensitive time in Earth's history. Current member and one time Convenor for the Devon Crop Circle Group. Editor of their irregular journal 'Cyderspace'. Member of CCCS (Centre for Crop Circle Studies), council member since 1996. Chairman from 1996 to May 2000. Editor of The Circular (CCCS) from 1996 (issue #26) until August 2000 (Issue 38) Currently Vice President of the CCCS. Organised the CCCS Conference at Bristol in 1999 and The CCCS Convention at Andover in 2000. Author of several publications, mostly unrelated to Crop Circles. Currently involved in the editing and production of three crop circle related books. Saw his first 'real' circle at Callington in Cornwall in 1991 and has never looked back. Interested in BoLs and the mechanism for the production of of crop circles and attendant amomalous phenomena. photo of David Kingston David Kingston I was born in the United Kingdom. After leaving school I trained in electronics before joining the Royal Air Force. I first researched the UFO phenomena as part of my military duties starting in the mid 1950's travelling around the world to military bases. Some of my reports were documented in "Project Blue Book." It was one such sighting in 1976 during reports of "waves" of UFOs at Cley Hill, Warminster that I witnessed my first crop circle, some 30feet in diameter at the base of the hill. I started to look for a possible correlation between the two. I have carried out research for Dr. William Levengood but have always carried out my own line of research into the enigma. I have always been interested in the ultra / infra sound and RFs that has been emitted from some of the formations, wondering why and how. I lecture regularly on the anomaly, have appeared on both radio and television world-wide. One line of research I am at present involved in is the conversion of the crop glyph pictures into sound using a "high tech" computer programme. As I was taught the skill of Remote Viewing I intend to start another avenue of research of using R.V. in my research into the Crop Circle Formations. Website: thecropcirclewebsite.50megs.com/ photo of Michael Lawrence Morton Michael Lawrence Morton Michael Lawrence Morton is an archaeocryptographer, born in Washington, D.C., USA. Michael attended the public schools of Mt. Lebanon, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, and he holds a B.A. degree in English Literature from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA. He has extensively studied and worked-with the material of Carl P. Munck, Sr., the pioneer of the new field of study called archaeocryptography, for the past 9 or 10 years, expanding the work into the realms of prominent (current) star-positions, as seen by the naked eye, and now applying this work into the area of crop formation research. He works with what you might call the *matrix-numbers* of 'precise locations' of sites, structures, and 'points-in-time' involving certain events. The locations are empirically self-indicated, in terms of latitude and longitude - such as the exact coordinates, down to a small fraction of an arc-second, of a certain ancient stone circle, for example. This can now be applied to the precise locations of crop formations, thanks to 'The International Crop Circle Database'. Not only satellite-accurate mapping, but more 'un-scrambled' GPS unit signals have made it possible to work with this precision. Michael has found that the 'matrix-numbers' of crop formations and of the current sky-positions of certain prominent stars, are correlating very specifically with the exact positions of important ancient structures .. indicating a substantial amount of information ... regarding an apparent 'ancient unified field matrix'. photo of Linda Moulton Howe Linda Moulton Howe Linda Moulton Howe is a graduate of Stanford University with a Masters Degree in Communication. She has devoted her documentary film, television and radio career to productions concerning science, medicine and the environment. Linda has received local, national and international awards, including three regional Emmys and a national Emmy nomination. Those films have included Poison in the Wind and A Sun Kissed Poison which compared smog pollution in Los Angeles and Denver; Fire In The Water about hydrogen as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels; A Radioactive Water about uranium contamination of public drinking water in a Denver suburb; and A Strange Harvest which explored the worldwide animal mutilation mystery that has haunted the United States and other countries since the late 1950's and continues to date. Another film focused on astronaut training in Denver. Linda was an honored medical producer in Boston's WCVB Station Excellence Peabody Award, received the Aviation & Space Writers Association Award for Writing Excellence in Television, a Chicago Film Festival Golden Plaque for A Radioactive Water, Colorado's Florence Sabin Award for "outstanding contribution to public health," and was Director of International Programming for Earthbeat, an environmental series broadcast on Turner's WTBS Superstation, Atlanta, Georgia. Other television programs have included The World of Chemistry for PBS; creation of a two-hour special Earth Mysteries: Alien Life Forms in association with WATL-Fox, Atlanta; three documentaries for UNICEF about international child survival efforts; and the documentary Strange Harvests 1993. She also contracted with Paramount Studios as Supervising Producer and Original Concept creator for an hour special based on her Earth Mysteries program. That hour, UFO Report: Sightings, was first broadcast in October 1991 and lead to the Sightings series on the Fox network. She has traveled in Africa, Australia, Peru, Egypt, Europe, Mexico, Venezuela, the Yucatan, and Puerto Rico for research and productions. MUFON presented her with its international award honoring investigations of unusual phenomena. Linda has written four books: An Alien Harvest which investigates the worldwide animal mutilation phenomenon; Glimpses of Other Realities, Volumes I and II which concern U.S. military, intelligence and civilian testimonies about non-humans interacting with earth life and Mysterious Lights and Crop Circles (Fall 2000) which focuses on the scientific research of biophysical and biochemical changes in affected cereal crops by complex energy systems and eyewitness accounts of mysterious lights in the fields. Linda continues to write, produce and speak at national and international conferences and symposiums, including NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. She also produces, writes and reports for television and radio, including segments on The Discovery Channel and weekly science, medicine, environment and unusual phenomena news for the nationally syndicated Premiere Radio series Dreamland and Coast to Coast AM. She also reports and edits Earthfiles.com on the World Wide Web. She is a member of The British Society of Dowsers and lives in Hampshire. In 1995 she completed a three week tour of the States and Canada which was enthusiastically received. She appeared on Warner Television and in New York and Canadian Television in Toronto. She has also lectured in Germany and Spain. Website: home.clara.net/lucypringle/ photo of Dr.John Sherwood Dr.John Sherwood Dr Sherwood has researched ancient cultures and civilisations for over 35 years. Research work on the crop circles has also been ongoing since 1995 and to date he has discovered a number of interesting things about these patterns. However most of his work as a member of the U.N. World Noosphere Ecological Assembly means he also covers other subjects such as ancient technology as well as developing new ideas, concepts and advanced therapies as well as uncovers new discoveries like vortex grid energy development and so forth. Website: www.rajon.com photo of Freddy Silva Freddy Silva Freddy Silva is a crop circles researcher, photographer and lecturer, and host of The Crop Circular , a popular web site containing much research on the phenomenon. His investigation takes a whole-istic approach, combining ground observation, scientific data, biology, sacred geometry, sound, mathematics, earth energies and psychic phenomena. By adopting an open-minded and multi-disciplinary role he hopes to find some solutions to the questions posed by the phenomenon, eventually applying the knowledge to practical and beneficial purposes. Prior to this he was an award winning Creative Director, writer and art director. Still freelances to pay the bills. Website: home.clara.net/lovely photo of Peter Sorensen Peter Sorensen Peter R. Sørensen is a Videographer who has taped more crop circles than anyone else. He first came to England to investigate the phenomenon for himself in 1992. Video cassettes are on sale for every year since then, and stock footage is available. He also loves the ancient stone circles and sacred sites in the area, and these usually appear on his tapes, too. Peter enhances frames from his digital video for display on his website. Using Photoshop software he does one or more of the following: * Adjust color and contrast; * alter perspective; * hide walk lines and tractor lines. He respects the geometry of the circles, but on the RARE occasion when he alters the design, he will put a notation on the image. Throughout the summer he emails his pictures -- sometimes several in a day (many more than are posted on the website), and often on the very same day as new formations appear. [To be on the list costs £20 or $30 US -- all funds go to flying and research. Email him at *croppie2 (at) yahoo.com* In addition to pictures of the circles, Peter's infamous 'Rogues Gallery of Croppies' is the biggest collection of portrait shots of circle researchers. We should look upto them as some of the most effective personalities ever, who got the potential to make the difference. Comment posted by Graham Timmins on 12th Mar 2009 @ 10:29pm Dear Paul you seem like a genuine guy, but is this really supposed to be a comprehensive list of active crop circle researchers? People still actually researching as opposed to living off their not very good books written in the 1990's? Why do some get such long write-ups? Is it coincidence that I didn't meet one of these in a crop circle last year and none of the people I DID met are included?! Not that I would know who is any good, but this is extra depressing if there is no one out there really studying the circles. regards Graham Comment posted by Anonymous coward on 15th May 2009 @ 5:32am Just trying to find out if Ilyes is still interested in this field. She showed our daughter around the crop circle outside of Chehalis, Wa. Much appreciated. If anyone has a current contact site, please inform. Comment posted by ben dyson on 18th May 2009 @ 5:11am i was shocked yet not surprised at the venerable death of paul vigay,1 by 1 wasnt it colin. thats the 2nd death of a researcher, which both seem to have been premature, that i have heard about...
