*Sage Emperors*

In Chinese tales, they were kings and emperors prior to the Xia Dynasty.
In the historical documents of the Warring States Period and the Han
Dynasty, there were different versions. For Three Emperors, one version
means Sui-ren, Fu-xi and Shen Nong; another means Fu-xi, Lady Wa and
Shen Nong. For Five Emperors, one version lists the Yellow Emperor
<../../11c/11c04/11c0402.htm>, Zhuanxu <../../11c/11c04/11c0408.htm>,
Diku <../../11c/11c04/11c0409.htm>, Yao and Shun, another points to
Taihao, Yandi <../../11b/11b04/11b0402.htm>, the Yellow Emperor, Shaohao
and Zhuanxu. In the orthodox version, Three Emperors were Fu-xi, Shen
Nong and the Yellow Emperor; Five Emperors were Shaohao, Zhuanxu, Diku,
Yao and Shun.
